FIFTY EIGHT ✖ VOICE
[Private to Zane]
[He's not really sure what to make of the pairing announcements in some ways, but he's hoping it's a good thing that they've already had some time to get used to each other, that there's some manner of trust there. He knows he screwed up with Felix and feels like he's been more or less useless to Morgana, but Zane seems like someone who needs some positive direction, and he's hopeful he can provide that.]
I've got your file. We should probably arrange a time to meet. Do you have a preference? [He assumes you've been let out of Zero by now, but.]
[Filtered to Erik, Jean and Alex]
[Charles sounds more serious than tired, although there's certainly a sort of weariness in his voice because this is not exactly a fun topic to be discussing.] Considering it seems as though whatever destination the Barge is heading towards isn't exactly going to be a pleasant one, I'd highly recommend everyone taking precautions in case we're left somewhere dangerous without access to our abilities or other means of defending ourselves. ["Like the Vanquish" is going unsaid, but the three of you know why he'd be overly cautious about an announcement like that, so.]
Obviously there's no guarantee that we'll be able to bring supplies with us, but in case there is, I'd strongly suggest making certain your flight suits are on hand and undamaged, and potentially even packing an emergency kit to leave with them.
[He knows he's sounding kind of bossy, but he's worried and doesn't want anything to happen - even though it probably will anyway - so he's maybe stepping up and saying something about this instead of just letting things happen. B(]
[Private to Erik]
[And now putting the other two off the filter because the grown ups need to talk.]
We should talk.
[Private Separately to Barbara and Arthur]
If your schedule permits it, I'd be very interested in upping the number of days we train. [He's assuming at least Arthur won't mind having an extra few hours a week to beat the crap out of him at least.]
[Private to Gwaine]
Are you still interested in sparring?
[Private to Bruce]
[He feels kind of awkward asking this, but.] I have a favor to ask.
[Private to Merlin]
[Wryly:] I'd say "how do you feel about heading up to the CES", but considering it sounds as if the Admiral's turned it into a bit of a minor war zone, I'm not certain it would necessarily be the best place to catch up.
[Private Separately to Rorschach and Kon]
I'd like to talk with you about what happened between Cassel and Zane.
[Private to the Admiral]
Please deliver three months supply of copper and tin to Zane's room, and a small supply of other allomancy metals to my room in case the need for them arises.
[And after talking with Erik about the upcoming port:]
I'd also like two hand guns, enough spare ammunition for both, two gun safes, and two decent sized hunting knives, please. [Look he's asking politely! c: Although just saying, he might actually appreciate a Barge shaped stress ball right now.]

After lunch? Is there anywhere you'd be more comfortable talking? [Pick something. x(]
[private]
[ This is more of a question than a statement. ]
[private]
[And he's read it, and goddamn, man. :c]
[private]
He doesn't want to talk about it. It was one thing revealing facts about himself in his own way, on his own time. This is exposed and it's dangerous, and Zane is having a difficult time keeping his panic under control. ]
What's your cabin like?
[ He doesn't want this to happen in public. ]
[private]
It's a room from my family's home. I hadn't started living here again until fairly recently before coming to the Barge.
[private]
There, then.

He paces, in his room. Looks to the metals that Cassel left him. Ah, he shouldn't; he doesn't want Charles to know he has a source now, and he doesn't want any further accusations to come from his associations with Cassel. They'll think that Zane is just using him. That's exactly what Zane isn't doing. He told Cassel as much, baldly.
Charles will have the copper and tin for him, Zane reminds himself. In the meantime, he picks up one pellet of steel - he's already burned one of the beads of pewter, and it's cleared his body of the symptoms of illness, for now - and swallows it. One of pewter, too, to leave in his stomach. He doesn't burn either of them for now.
And he shows up, not long after the conversation, with a knock on the door. ]
[spam]
How are you feeling?
[spam]
[ He looks better, actually, and not just because there's been fading of the bruises. He holds himself a little taller, and his skin is less pale.
He slips inside, his eyes casting around the room. He burns a hint of steel, just enough to see the translucent blue lines that point to the sources of metal inside. There's a lot of metal. But, then, Charles would never have had to be careful around Mistborn. ]
[spam]
Fortunately, his own abilities give him a bit of a leg up there, even if he wasn't planning on really using his telepathy until Zane felt comfortable with it.]
Good. [He closes the door behind him and heads over to his desk, opening one of the drawers and pulling out a package.]
The Admiral's given me some tin and copper to give to you, and I've asked for more so you won't run out any time soon. [He hands it over to him.] Would you like to sit down?
[spam]
The effect isn't as acute as it should be, but it's there, especially if he flares the metal. Immediately, everything is heightened. He can feel the stitches in the cloth against his skin. Hear Charles' heartbeat. For a moment, the din of the silence and the rush of blood is overwhelming, and then he pulls back from the metal, burns it slow.
Tin lasts for a long time.
A little shake of his head. He refocuses on Charles. ]
...thank you.
[ And he will take a seat. Somewhere he can see most of the room. ]
[spam]
[He lets Zane pick a chair, and takes the seat across from him. He isn't really acting any differently now that they've been assigned, but he knows it's strange and uncomfortable for someone to know that someone else on board suddenly knows almost everything about them. That's really why he's trying to just act normal, without putting pressure on him to talk or get into matters on the first day.]
So, is there anything you'd like to ask me now that we've been assigned?
[spam]
[ He can hardly believe that Charles will give him more freedoms, after all. Not since how everyone reacted with Cassel. ]
[spam]
You'll still have to ask me or another warden to be let into a warden locked area, since you don't have an item of your own, but I'm more than happy to do it and I certainly don't mind you asking someone else to let you into the CES or the pub.

What do you plan to do, then?

What else do you want?

But he sits back, silent, knowing that if he's wrong or not, he's not getting anything else out of Charles. ]
What did it say?
[ The file. ]
[spam]
Do you want to read it?
[spam]
[ There is no hesitation, in this. He doesn't want to know. ]

[spam] lol misfire
[ On the scale of things, this seems as though it should be minor. After all, Zane has mowed through dozens before, burning atium to see a few seconds into the future, to make himself unstoppable in battle. With Vin what he did was connect with her, and then manipulate her into killing, and then try to manipulate her into helping him break free from his father.
It had been for the right reasons. Zane had wanted to stop being a weapon. He doesn't know why attacking Vin feels like the worst thing he's done. She killed him. Isn't that revenge enough? ]
[spam] no worries! c:
[And that was definitely. Something. It was complicated, because while some of the things Zane had done were definitely awful, he couldn't help but feel sorry for him. He'd been manipulated, basically brainwashed, and he'd wanted to get away from the person responsible. He could certainly sympathize, even if he didn't condone what he'd done.]
