There are no bioluminescent plants on Earth besides the ones I developed myself; the only evolutionary purpose for it would be the attraction or repulsion of insects and the like. What I find more interesting is the fact that they thrive underground, without an apparent need for photosynthesis. It's possible that they provide each others' light source, though that presents a 'chicken and egg' dilemma as regards how the first of their kind were able to survive underground.
