If anyone is in need of assistance in the wake of our last port, don't hesitate to ask. [He maybe feels a little guilty for not going and being able to help out. :c]
[Friends Filter - pretty much anyone he's ever had a positive conversation with, in this context.]
I'd appreciate hearing from you.
[Private to Tony Stark]
Mr. Stark? Professor Charles Xavier. [He didn't quite get around to introductions the last time they chatted.] I trust your adventure in port went well. [Which might have a quiet edge of please don't be dead :| somewhere in there.]

He shifts, though, almost uncomfortable, drumming his fingers on the table.]
Best of the best, especially with the new core. [Luck had nothing to do with it, Charles. But he's letting that part of the conversation slip away, for now] So what's the plan here? Sit around for a few weeks playing games of get-to-know-you before you sign off on whatever clearance slip this place has?

I'm afraid it's a bit more complicated than that. [And he's fine with letting the topic move on to this for now. It's the first day, and talking about deeper issues can wait a bit.] I'd assume you'd like something to do beyond sitting around twiddling you thumbs in your spare time. We have a lab on board, and the engine room and repair crews both offer positions for inmates to do supervised work. We will be discussing why you're here and try to puzzle out how to get you home - if that's where you want to go, when your time here is finished - but ultimately, it isn't up to me whether you graduate or not. The final decision here is yours.

Thumb twiddling I don't do well, and I'm kind of getting sick of the whole pacing my room looking for things to do. [His fingers are drumming on the table, his other hand supporting his head as he just sort of peers at Charles across the table]
Repair crew I could do. Even if I'm more set to build and invent than put back together. But hey, beggars can't be choosers. And it kind of beats staring at a wall all day.
[He snorts, then, at the end of that speech]
Right. Can't help those who won't help themselves. I'm just confused about what I'm supposed to be trying to change. You know, other than being the wet dream of just about everyone who's not a psychotic terrorist. And hey, even them. Maybe. Probably.

The second part's a little tougher to tackle, but Charles hasn't really ever been shy about this sort of thing, sooo.]
Well, at first glance, it would seem like you're much better off than most of the inmates here. It's not an issue of what you're doing, but more of why and how you're choosing to do it. Once that behavior improves, I'm sure you'll be able to head back home in no time.
