[Charles just lets out a short, heavy sigh.]

There was a man - a mutant - back home, who tried to manipulate the United States and the Soviet Union into nuclear war, operating under the assumption that the radiation would wipe out the humans and leave us to inherit the Earth. He killed one of my students, recruited another and slaughtered an entire base of CIA agents. He was also the man who murdered Erik's mother, and Erik, my students and I confronted him and his team on a beach in Cuba. We were able to stop him, but I was paralyzed, Darwin was still dead and the humans on the battleships nearby still feared us.

So believe me when I say I can understand how difficult it is to be constantly in close quarters with someone who's targeted people you care about. If Sebastian Shaw ever arrived here, I don't know how I'd act when I'd inevitably need to confront him myself, or how I'd cope with him tormenting the people I care about.

But you're supposed to be a warden here, Captain. It isn't our job to stoop to their level, and you and Mr. Barton acting that way simply validates Mr. Stark's behavior. It isn't making him realize there's behavior that needs to be changed because that's not how a hero and a public figure's supposed to act, and that's part of what's keeping him here. And I'd appreciate it if in the future you keep that in mind.
