Not necessarily. For example, here I can't read many of the vampires at all, whereas at home, I've only run into one person who could shut me out entirely if she wanted, and she was another telepath. I tried to read you once, but your mind's a lot different from a human's, or another mutant's. Had I encountered something like that, I would have noticed something was amiss basically immediately, and I've read enough people that I think I'd have noticed it, had it been something that did exist.

And besides that, say I entered a bar and decided to read the mind of someone leaving to go off and hunt vampires. Unless they knew I was reading them and specifically shielded their thoughts, that would be the first thing I picked up on. And as I've never run into that before coming here, I'd say the likelihood of the supernatural existing in my world is fairly slim.
