[He's been here long enough to witness this event two previous times, and it's always been strange, and often a little upsetting. More than a little, actually. But it's hard to resist knowing that he might be able to hear from people back home he hasn't seen in far too long, so he does eventually click on the feed to see who's out there this time.

He's sitting at his desk, and is fiddling with a little plastic figurine of a weird looking bug creature. (The others are on the desk nearby.) He smiles]

This is [There's a fraction of a second of hesitation as he debates at the last second whether or not ] Dr. Charles Xavier. If Sean, Hank and Armando are out there, I would very much appreciate hearing from you.

My Charles - his heart's in the right place, most times. But he doesn't realise it doesn't all have to be on his shoulders. [A grim, thin smile.] Probably because it always was, before.

That is not what he expected to hear about this other him. Ever, really. It's a burden and a weightlessness in one: another version of himself did this, maybe did this on his own. Changed.

And Erik can't help but recognize that he is different, now. ]

I think most mothers try to. She adopted you? [At this point, he's not one to be critical of what makes a family: Alex and the others are family, even without blood between them.]

[He hasn't associated himself with that name in a long while: it's been the codename of another version of himself, versions, the ones he's heard about since coming here. It's almost surreal to hear it directed at him.]

I am. What are you and the others up to?

[Is this the Darwin Alex saved, he wants to know, or a Darwin who simply hasn't died yet.]

He does. With some growing pains, surely, but... [She remembers thinking their children lost, and the aching, desperate hope he confided in her.] He cares deeply for those kids. He'd do anything for them, an' I imagine they know it by now.

I can imagine. [And he can. He really, really can. Erik said it best when he'd observed that it seemed like Charles had raised himself, and Raven.]

Well, no one's ever really met him, and he has a tendency to get us into a variety of fairly unusual situations. He's also apparently capable of bringing back the dead.

I certainly hope so, although I'm sure once we start expanding, we're going to need more than two teachers. [Three if you count Hank. Alex and Darwin definitely have potential and Sean... might need a little work before teaching calculus but Charles has absolute faith in him so. c: Could be worse. c:]
